Amidst an old, history-rich neighbourhood in Kunming, the revitalized Chun Sheng Jewelry store emerges with the vibrancy of spring’s first bloom.

Aurora Design has breathed new life into an old residential building, seamlessly integrating the store into its surroundings while unveiling an interior space as dynamic and multifaceted as the gemstones it houses.

The project, guided by the talented chief designer Yang Xuewan, transcends the traditional boundaries of a retail space. It celebrates light, natural materials, and the timeless beauty of handcrafted jewelry. From the moment one steps inside, there is an immediate sense of being enveloped in springtime's freshness and vitality. The design not only captures the essence of Chun Sheng's brand identity but also pays homage to Kunming, the "Spring City," where the vibrancy of the season is felt year-round.

The original structure of this three-story building remains intact and carefully preserved to maintain harmony with the surrounding urban landscape. Yet, as you move inside, the transformation is evident. Removing load-bearing walls and introducing modular sections have opened the space, allowing natural light to flood in from all sides. The newly added terrace on the south side, along with expansive glass doors and windows, ensures that light becomes a central feature of the design. As the light dances across stone ledges and wooden surfaces, it brings the energy and promise of spring.

The interior's soft palette of warm whites, light wood, and earthy tones is reminiscent of a spring morning, where the light softly caresses the earth, coaxing it into bloom. The design's meticulous attention to detail, from the bespoke wooden furniture designed by Aurora Design to the delicate balance of light and shadow that shifts throughout the day, every element enhances the sense of calm and refinement.
