FISHER ISLAND PROJECT || A Seaside Retreat Framed by Craftsmanship and Calm

The sea may frame the horizon, but it’s craftsmanship that anchors this modern sanctuary on Fisher Island.
From travertine floors to custom German millwork, every detail in this Holzrausch-designed residence pays homage to calm, coastal luxury.
Located on one of Florida’s most exclusive islands, this 2,400-square-foot home offers a deeply considered blend of function and tranquillity. Designed by Holzrausch—one of Europe’s most revered studios known for its exceptional woodwork and spatial precision—the space reflects a seamless dialogue between architectural clarity and the relaxed cadence of coastal life.
A wireframe sculpture mounted on travertine sets a serene tone in the softly sculpted kitchen.
At the heart of the design is a series of refined “boxes”—modular volumes that define each space while maintaining long, uninterrupted sightlines. These quiet boundaries allow art and function to coexist, framing each zone with intention while never obstructing the home’s sense of openness. The result is a fluid living environment, adaptable to intimate gatherings and expansive hosting, where nothing feels rushed, and every detail is just so.
The material palette is calm, yet layered. Roman travertine flows underfoot, meeting walls of whitewashed European oak that stretch across the interiors like warm ribbons of light. The architecture is enhanced by custom cabinetry, designed and fabricated in Germany, then assembled onsite by master carpenters—evidence of Holzrausch’s dedication to craftsmanship at every turn.
Sophisticated materials and strong forms defines the open-plan living area.
The onyx-lined bar exudes warmth and quiet sophistication.
Natural textures take the lead, with matte surfaces and open-pored finishes creating a serene backdrop for curated art pieces, sculptural furniture, and bold accents. Notable collaborations include furniture designed with Dirk and Cathy Lohan, adding a note of mid-century lineage to the otherwise contemporary interiors. From the sculptural brass light fixtures to the immersive onyx-lit bar nook, each moment is tailored, tactile, and quietly luxurious.
Yet, for all its refinement, the residence never loses its connection to place. Expansive, nearly frameless glass doors open wide to a sun-drenched terrace overlooking the Atlantic. Arched columns and wrought-iron railings echo the historic Moorish architecture of the island, while modern interventions soften the transition between indoors and out.
Floor-to-ceiling glass frames views of the ocean.
Sliding walls pocket discreetly into millwork, allowing the homeowners to open the layout entirely or cocoon into private corners. This dynamic flexibility embodies the home’s underlying philosophy: that comfort and design are not opposing forces, but natural companions.
In the Fisher Island Project, Holzrausch delivers an unrivalled atmosphere. Thoughtfully restrained, immaculately executed, and deeply soothing, this is coastal living reimagined through the lens of European craftsmanship and timeless elegance.
Clean-lined architecture opens into a glowing onyx bar, tucked behind pocket doors for discretion and drama.
