STAYCATION SERIES || Relax at the Condesa df Hotel in Mexico
The desire to travel and escape the city is being compounded by travel restrictions triggered by the global pandemic. With travel confined to destinations accessible by car, we are launching a Staycation Series, to provide you with unique staycation options around the world, spanning the Americas, Europe, Asia Pacific, and beyond. Join us as we explore Condesa df Hotel in Mexico City’s stylish neighborhood.
Tucked between historic facades on a tree-lined road in Mexico City's stylish Condesa neighborhood, the hotel fuses the spirit of its bohemian surroundings with a playfully simple design aesthetic. The hotel has been named to the Hot List for both Condé Nast Traveller, UK, and Condé Nast Traveler, USA, and it’s easy to see why with its unique culinary and accommodation options.
Housed in a 1928 building, Condesa DF is filled from head to toe with custom furniture designed by Parisian designer India Mahdavi, stone tiles, and an abundance of local colour. The feel is modern yet warm, hip but not haughty.
FOOD & DRINK
El Patio
A perfect fusion of Mexican and French cuisines is served in the green lung of the hotel. In a unique enclave, surrounded by trees and vegetation, Mexican Chef Antonio Balderas prepares a seasonal cuisine with a marked French technique.
The Patio is synonymous with the community. Daily, this space welcomes guests from all over the world to intermingle with neighbors, businessmen, architects, and various celebrities, creating a cosmopolitan atmosphere around a café. Its acclaimed Sunday brunch, which changes its gastronomic offerings weekly, is a must if you are close to the Condesa neighborhood, and worth the trip if you are not.
La Terraza
With incredible views of Parque España and Chapultepec Castle, this triangular space on the rooftop stands out for its carefully chosen design, unmatched mixology, and for having one of the best sushi bars in the city. Coming from the Morimoto school, Japanese Chef Keisuke Harada presents a varied representation of Japanese dishes with light Mexican touches.
ROOMS & SUITES
The 40 rooms and suites were inspired by the tranquility of monastic bedrooms—but without a lack of amenities, of course. The result is calming, airy spaces, some of which open onto wooden terraces, while, an overarching floral theme—visible on everything from cushion covers to chopstick wrappers—serves to enhance the relaxed, warm-weather vibe.
The Patio Rooms are best for those who will enjoy a view of the quiet interior courtyard. For those who enjoy bustling city views, the Balcony Rooms and Suites have a Juliette balcony overlooking the neighborhood streets. The Corner Suite and Top Suite both offer sweeping views of the surroundings and much more living space.
Often compared to New York’s SoHo, Condesa is seen as one of Mexico City’s trendier areas. Characterized by timeworn colonial architecture, cosmo-cool drinking spots, and green parks dotted with natty young Mexicans and internationals, the crowd’s relationship with the area is symbiotic and forever changing: vibrant, fresh, and capturing the city’s transition.
