Perched on the gently rolling hills of Tuscany, Laconda Rossa is nestled amongst the olive grove trees, the dusty roads of Maremma, the sea, the cliffs, and Argentario’s wonderful beaches, at the border with northern Lazio where the ancient Romans and Etruscans met and left a deep heritage. Capalbio is one of the main cities of this small border region just a few minutes from the beach and halfway between Grosseto, Siena, and Rome.
THE STORY
Located in Calpalbio’s countryside, Laconda Rossa is an ancient farmhouse that has been converted to a resort of contemporary charm.
The renovation, which started in 2008, lead to the creation of 12 rooms, 1 suite, and 4 apartments curated by the interior designer Valeria Giuliani. In addition, in 2018, 16 new junior suites and 4 new suites were added, leading the structure to equip itself with a total of 10 rooms, 18 junior suites, 6 suites, and 4 villas, some with their own private garden and kitchen. The new rooms are of simple and refined elegance, curated by the architect Tommaso Ziffer, while other two world-renowned experts, landscape architect Paolo Pejrone and architect Paolo Cattaneo, have overseen the outdoor spaces, the gardens, and the layout of the new structures.
The Locanda Rossa’s farm develops within the 21 hectares of the estate in which the extra virgin olive oil and honey are produced and consequently consumed both by guests during their stay and by the restaurant La Cucina to prepare the dishes served during the day.

DINING
Locanda Rossa immerses guests in a typical Tuscan experience throughout their stay. The La Cucina restaurant uses products from its own garden combined with other excellent ingredients sourced from the territory.
Every day La Cucina prepares ice cream, focaccia, desserts, and pasta to create and serve local dishes with a modern and light touch, combined with the 100% Italian extra virgin olive oil produced from the cultivation of frantoio, moraiolo and leccino from the 3,500 olive trees within the Locanda Rossa park. The extra virgin olive oil and honey are available at the Locanda Rossa’ shop and online shop.
Guests also have the option to fully enjoy the Tuscan cuisine with Locanda Rossa’s cooking classes, which can be arranged on request. Guests can explore the fundamentals of Mediterranean cuisine with the Chef. If breakfast in bed isn’t enough, private dining by the pool is also an option.

The 38 rooms and suites at Laconda Rossa have different characteristics to suit different needs, from a couple’s weekend to a long family vacation. There are 10 rooms, 18 junior suites, 6 suites, and 4 villas.
Furthermore, guests of the Locanda Rossa can take advantage of two outdoor swimming pools, one of which is entirely dedicated to children, a multifunctional playground, and a complete fitness room. Everything contributes to creating a serene and relaxed atmosphere that makes treatments in the resort's spa more effective, with a thermal pool, hammam, sauna, and calming emotional showers in a refined and silent environment.
The marvelous junior suites and the suites are available with a panoramic view, a terrace, or a private garden. The suites also come with a fully equipped kitchen if you would like to stay in and prepare a meal. Each of the junior suites and suites is uniquely designed and decorated, offering a distinct experience in each space. Select suites are painted in soothing hues of blue and yellow, whereas others make use of an earthy color palette.

It’s ideal for families and groups of friends and is also open to small pets if you would like to bring your furry friends. Decorated in shades of blue and yellow, it is composed of a double bedroom and a separated living room with two single sofa beds. The Garden Suite features an elegant master bathroom in shades of white and black with a walk-in shower. Catch the warm and comforting sun rays on the sun loungers in the private garden as you take in the breathtaking views.
For those who desire more space, the villas are an optimal choice with 3 bedrooms and up to 5 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, 2 private parking spaces, plus a private garden and a patio where the whole family can enjoy the outdoors.
