As the world slowly re-opens post-pandemic, the desire to discover new lands and experiences is at an all-time high. Our travel series seeks to inspire you with unique travel options and itineraries worldwide, spanning the Americas, Europe, Asia Pacific, and beyond. Join us as we test out the innovative Sky Fight Cafe in Ginza, Japan.
With border restrictions relaxing and Japan opening its borders once again (not to mention the very attractive yen right now for travellers), Japan is likely on a lot travel bucket lists for this year. What is Japan known for? Delicious food anywhere you go, cafes with cakes and pastries that look like they jumped right out of a manga, and…drone cafes?
Well, that’s new! Not only is the concept interesting and the experience unique, but the fact that it’s located in Ginza is another highlight for this new cafe aptly named Sky Fight Cafe. The cafe opened at Tokyo’s Marronnier Gate Ginza on in June of 2020, and since it was during the peak covid time period, it’s still a relatively undiscovered gem.
Aside from the usual cafe, guests are able to fly drones indoors. If you’re an avid photographer or content creator, you may have come across the need to use a drone. I remember when I purchased my drone, I had no idea how to fly it or where to fly it. At Sky Fight Cafe they offer a drone school, where they can teach you how to operate a drone. I wish we have this service in Canada because it would have made my life a lot easier when I first got started.
Now we know the origin of the cafe name, Sky Fight Cafe, because it involved flying drones in the cafe; but why did they add the word ‘fight’ in the name? This is because food or drink item you purchase at the cafe, you get one entry to participate in drone races; whether you are a beginner or a professional drone pilot, all levels are welcome.
The other piece of good news is that the cafe serves coffee but also beer, so on a hot and humid summer day which is characteristic of a Tokyo summer season, you can escape indoors to sip on a refreshing beer and learn how to fly a drone. Operating hours are 11am - 9pm and no reservation is required. We hope you get a chance to visit Japan to try out this new cafe concept!
