KEVIN AND KEVIN JUICE BAR AND COCKTAIL LOUNGE || Internationally Inspired Flavours Introduce New Dining Concept to Vancouver
It’s a juice bar and cocktail lounge in one nestled at the corner of historic Chinatown in Vancouver.
Kevin & Kevin Juice Bar & Cocktail Lounge provides a full range of 100% organic cold-pressed juices, super-charged smoothies, and other healthy dining options. In the early evening, the space is transformed into a cocktail lounge and the mood transforms with dimmed lighting and delicious cocktails.
Circular bench seating is perfect for one if you want to stop in for a juice or coffee and people watch by the window, whereas open booths and tables in the bright and high-ceilinged interior provide quiet spaces for friends to catch up. The interior is accented with pops of greenery to align with the brand’s dedication to healthy food and drink options. Playful wall graphics give the space a vibrant and playful vibe.
For those who are stopping in to grab a quick snack or breakfast bite, healthy treats and fresh juices can be found at the counter. Customers can experience all the different breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner tapas menus by Chef Colette, who has a background in nutrition and dietetics. The menu changes seasonally so make sure to check the website for details!
Of course, we didn’t miss the opportunity to ask the team what they would recommend from their lineup of healthy juices and mouth-watering pastries. “We offer a full rainbow of colorful and delicious smoothies, protein shakes, and trendy artisan pastries, sweets, and treats. Our signature Peanut Butter and Jelly or Cinnamon Bun Swirl Smoothie are a sweet decadent retreat. We also have our Sea Greens smoothie line that was over 17 different powerful ingredients that offer nutrients and minerals from the sea. We also have smoothie Bowls with advanced superfood toppings and custom blended phytonutrient powders.”
The team also shares the mixology concept behind their interpretation of 12 dynamic classic combinations, including the Green AF, which they refer to as the next level “blood transfusion in a bottle” (if you’re looking for a thorough cleanse, this is it!) Blue Majik is perfect as a sports and performance juice with chia, coconut, pineapple, and other ingredients for hydration, recovery, endurance, and overall rejuvenation.
As we sat at the bar table sipping our cold-pressed juices and cocktails (talk about the best of both worlds), we asked Chef Colette how the team came up with the idea to combine a juice bar and cocktail lounge into one space.
“Fusing a fresh cold-pressed juice concept into a cocktail bar seemed like a natural transition for us. I have been involved in mixology and developing similar concepts in both Asia and Europe, and it is also based on the vision of Kevin and Kevin inspired by next-level dynamic concepts not yet represented in Vancouver. The tapas menu was also a good fit as we wanted to pair our ‘Fortified and Fizzed’ prebatched, a low-proof cocktail concept with lighter small dishes so that people could indulge in just that little extra something and leave feeling elevated, in good spirits, and already talking about coming back next time.”
In our chat with Chef Colette, she shares that her inspiration for the menu stems from her travels abroad, and how pickled vegetables in Japan with their appetizing sour notes provided inspiration for her wintry dish pictured below.
The tapas menu leverages her various culinary experiences abroad by featuring a refreshing ‘around the world’ theme, so whether you are in the mood for a taste of the Mediterranean, Thailand, or Mexico, you can expect innovative and worldly flavors each time you visit.
We are planning our next visit based on the current menu, and we have our eyes on the Pork Bourguignon, Vegan Coconut Curry, and the Mediterranean Tartine with pumpkin seed pesto, portobello mushrooms, and roasted peppers.
Having observed the seasonal changes with Kevin & Kevin’s food and drink menu, we are impressed by how Chef Colette continually pushes the boundaries to share flavors and concepts that have yet to be seen in Vancouver. It’s also a feat to deliver a variety of menus tailored specially for different times of day (breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner), which really comes to show how the team is committed to tailoring their offerings to the customers’ changing dietary needs and cravings throughout the day; not only do they adjust the food and drink menu, they also change the ambiance of the interiors to deliver a differentiated day and night dining experience.
The team has designed the menus and interiors to make the experience worth the trip to Chinatown, and we certainly agree that we would travel for the sweets, drinks, tapas, and vibrant dining environment!
