CASA QUIETA || Contemporary Showroom Emphasizing Mexican Culture and Emerging Talent

Situated in Mexico City, Casa Quieta is a contemporary showroom that celebrates the simplicity of form and the beauty of natural materials.

A peaceful respite away from the hustle and bustle of city life, Casa Quieta is the brainchild of architects Daniel Cruz Maldonado and Maritza Lara Cáceres. The idea was to create a place where traditional Mexican craftsmanship and contemporary designs can come together harmoniously to bring guests a newfound appreciation for fine craftsmanship emphasizing Mexican culture and the richness of natural materials. Their combined vision intertwines the preservation of crafts and traditional processes with an aesthetic that resembles rationalism of the 20th century.

Tucked within a beautiful 20th-century Art Deco building in the affluent Polanco neighbourhood, the essence of Casa Quieta is brought to life through its elegant interior and simple forms within that evoke a sense of warmth and comfort. Upon entry, one will immediately notice the one-of-a-kind furniture and the thoughtfully curated accessories showcasing the craftsmanship of local talents and emerging artisans.

Coming from an architectural background, Daniel Cruz Maldonado studied architecture at the Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and the Washington Alexandria Architecture Center of Virginia Tech. Throughout the years, he has specialized in high-end residential, hospitality, and mixed-use developments. Paired with the talents of Maritza Lara Cáceres, who graduated from the School of Architecture and Urbanism of the UNAM and L’École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Paris-Belleville, the duo brings years of expertise to the revitalization project.

The design team firmly believes objects that evoke emotions and visceral memories, making this one of their key design principles for creating atmospheres that transcend peace, calmness, and balance. To achieve the desired atmosphere, hand-made design pieces were selected based on their traditional techniques, textures, shapes, and raw materials.

The showroom also features elements of Cruz Maldonado and Lara Cáceres’ independent and collaborative project: COTIDIANO and CAPITAL STUDIO. Within these showrooms, guests will find timeless furniture with simple lines that give life to chairs, tables, consoles, sofas, bed and more. Here, visitors can freely interact and try out their favourite pieces before committing to their purchase.

CASA MINERAL, on the other hand, is another project featuring marble designed home accessories including bowls, trays, plates, and cylinders of pure and geometric shapes. Guests will also be thrilled to find that all the pieces exhibited in the showroom can be acquired worldwide through various digital platforms, including the popular 1stDibs online marketplace.

Casa Quieta is a wonderful example of a modern showroom that brings prospective customers to a home-like setting that illuminates the beauty of the featured products within their natural setting. Unlike a conventional showroom often found in large warehouses, Casa Quieta redefines contemporary showrooms today where the environment is just as important as the object within it. After all, who doesn't love a tranquil shopping experience where you will feel like you’re invited into a friend’s home?
