INTERIOR SERIES || the_middle house
From here you can stand atop the beautiful and expansive rooftop terrace and breathe in the Pacific Ocean air.
the_middle house, a project designed and built by hu mn lab,+inc., is located in the westside coastal neighbourhood of Pacific Palisades in California.
This spacious home houses five bedrooms and 4 full baths, with 2 extra 1/2 baths for the convenience of visiting guests. The exterior cedar siding with the deep gray smooth steel troweled stucco gives the home a sense of calm and tranquility. Here, the street facade is dropped 4 feet to achieve a more lineal design and require fewer internal stairs.
While the exterior is sleek and modern, the designers decorated the exteriors wall with lush greenery, creating a secluded and quiet backyard area, where one can enjoy the water feature whilst sipping their morning coffee.
Inside, you will find sophisticated, contemporary decor, with floor-to-ceiling glass bordering the ascending stairs to the second floor, a detail that makes the space feel more spacious and serves up an impactful visual of the "floating stairs".
At the lower spilt level, two sets of 13 foot tall sliders open up to a manicured yard of grass, and white river rock, lap pool, and the valley, that opens its mouth to the Pacific Ocean.
The second level houses the bedrooms, which opens onto the roof garden outside the master bedroom. An internal staircase provides access to a massive roof deck, where one can admire the panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. We find the ideas to fully take advantage of the stunning views with the bedroom and bath tub facing out onto the terrace a thoughtful touch. With such beautiful surroundings, who wouldn't want to savour every moment of it?
