HIGH TIDE || A Fabric Collection That Blends Fluidity and Sustainability

What if a fabric could transport you to a world of movement and stillness, all in the same breath?

At the intersection of art, design, and sustainability, HIGH TIDE, the latest fabric collection by Daniela Pinotti, invites us to experience the creative process as an evolving narrative. Presented at STUDIOTAMAT’s inaugural OFFTAMAT event in Rome, this exclusive pattern marks the perfect marriage of artisanal craft and modern ingenuity.

A Visionary Launch at OFFTAMAT

OFFTAMAT, the new hybrid space by STUDIOTAMAT, is designed to celebrate creativity in its purest form. Located in the heart of Rome, this 3x3x3-meter volume acts as a stage for immersive installations, exploring the journey of design from concept to completion. Its opening chapter, on February 5, 2025, showcased a breathtaking collaboration with Italian designer Daniela Pinotti and l’Opificio, renowned for their sustainable, natural-fibre textiles.

The Fabric as a Canvas

The HIGH TIDE fabric collection features two colorways—strawberry red and fir green—crafted using the intricate lampas weaving technique. The pattern evokes fluidity and dynamism, creating a tactile and visual dialogue that transforms padded furniture, drapery, and cushions into pieces of art. Multicolored threads enhance the design’s depth, offering an abstract, nomadic narrative that blends past and present, as described by Pinotti:

These are visual fragments of a nomadic narrative, where one can get lost and found again in a suspended, undefined time.

A Dramatic Installation

The OFFTAMAT installation transformed the fabric into a theatrical spectacle. A voluminous curtain embraced the space, echoing the grandeur of a stage backdrop, while a reupholstered armchair from STUDIOTAMAT’s archive became a tactile centrepiece. Matteo Soddu, co-founder of STUDIOTAMAT, reflected on the symbolism:

The curtain separates the stage from the audience and rises to signal the beginning of the performance—a symbolic way to celebrate our ten years as an interior architecture studio while exploring new horizons.

The Future of OFFTAMAT

With its year-long program for 2025, OFFTAMAT sets the stage for more boundary-pushing collaborations, uniting architecture, design, and craftsmanship. Open by appointment, this experimental platform is a testament to STUDIOTAMAT’s commitment to redefining contemporary living through material innovation and storytelling.

HIGH TIDE is more than a fabric; it celebrates movement, texture, and timeless design—a narrative woven in every thread.
