BOTÁNICA || Neolith and Ciot Presents a Whimsical Garden Created by Custom Art Studio Moss and Lam

Imagine a botanical garden made of imaginary plants and an ever-present beauty that only custom art can provide; these are the elements setting the stage at the event that Neolith and Ciot co-hosted at the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto, earlier this month.

While the austere architecture of the space celebrates minimalism with decidedly crisp lines, Moss and Lam’s Botánica allows for a pinch of chaos and playful wackiness.

Replicating what unfurls beyond an indoor environment, where natural landscapes constantly grow and transform, Moss and Lam’s installation traces a whimsical thread throughout the space. Botánica encourages the eye and the mind to wander, by recreating remembered gardens and forests, the spaces that inhabit our dreams.

The stone slabs simulate otherworldly landscapes reminiscent of children’s building toys.

Neolith’s sintered stone slabs combined in different patterns and shades of grey, black, and white are intertwined to create dimensional sculptures unique in their essence, simulating otherworldly landscapes reminiscent of children’s building toys.

In a search for the beyond, where “outside is inside and the inside is outside”, nature enters the Museum’s Diwan terrace to become an integral part of its surroundings.

Beauty, sustainability, and playfulness were all key values inspiring the development of the temporary installation, which have long guided the bespoke art studio based in Toronto.

With Moss and Lam’s Botánica, natural elements are transformed into visionary plants that give the illusion of being in an oasis of greenery, a place where you can escape and, why not, dream.

Following its grand debut at the Aga Khan Museum, Botánica will be showcased in select Ciot showrooms across Canada and the United States, spanning from Toronto to Québec City, Atlanta, Detroit and to New York.
