GRYPHON HOUSE || British Gardens Inspired Lush Floral Art Installation Depicts Vision for Community Greenway
You feel like you’ve gone down the rabbit hole and out the other side.
Vancouver real estate developer Gryphon Development is the master of creating whimsical experiential art installations that push the boundaries of what you would expect from real estate marketing. From their Alice in Wonderland-inspired art exhibition late last year, aptly titled Art of Wonder, to the brand-new art installation located at their newly-opened South Granville Experience Gallery, one can always expect a delightful and artistic take on traditional presentation centres from this team.
The new Gryphon House Experience Gallery, showcasing the developer’s Kerrisdale project, is located in the former Boboli location on South Granville. The space boasts overweight ceilings over 20 feet high, and the portico entry provides a contrast of the old and new against the modern glass facade.
The art installation was conceptualized in collaboration with Vancouver-based design firm Casestudy Studio and Aileen Lee, a local illustrator and founder of the fashion label Vestige Story. The living artwork has been constructed with natural and irregular greenery juxtaposed against the elegant symmetry of Gryphon House’s classical architecture. Evoking the wild botanical dreamscapes of Dutch garden designer Piet Oudolf, the lush indoor garden will change with the seasons and features textural grasses, moss and vibrant wildflowers supplied by Vancouver floral design studio Kado Flowers.
The art installation tells the story of Gryphon Development’s vision for the future of one of the world’s longest linear parks, the 9km long Arbutus Greenway located in Kerrisdale, Vancouver.
The developer aims to elevate the Arbutus Greenway to other internationally renowned linear parks like The High Line on New York’s west side and the landmark Las Ramblas in central Barcelona.
This is why they are inviting the community to submit their ideas via an online contest titled #MyArbutusDreamway. For this campaign component, Gryphon Development collaborated with local Illustrator Aileen Lee to create a digital illustration as a backdrop on which people can draw on top and add stickers to share their future vision for the greenway.
Gryphon Development also seeks to give back to the community through this campaign to fuel the next generation of artists; the developer will donate $10 for every Instagram Story submission tagging @gryphondevelopment and using the hashtag #MyArbutusDreamway. Artists of all ages can download the digital illustration above and create on their mobile phones.
The art installation will be open for public viewing until the end of this summer. Visit the Gryphon House website to book a private appointment to discover the beautiful garden-inspired installation and to learn more about Gryphon House.
