VANCOUVER || Everyday Scenes From A Solo Walk
I went for a walk the other day instead of hopping in my car.
On a rare sunny day in Vancouver (the winter rain has been relentlessly ongoing for the last few days), I took the opportunity to head outside with my camera. It’s amazing what you are able to see when you explore the city on foot.
There were scenes of families going on a walk together (a rare scene prior to the global pandemic), friends standing at a street corner outside the neighbourhood cafe with face masks on to catch up, and residents tending to a community garden. I saw these things because I was walking behind the family along the seawall, I was dining in a restaurant by the window looking out the street corner, and I was attracted by the positive messages nailed onto the fence of the community garden; these are all things I would have missed if I had zipped by in my car, in a hurry to make the next appointment.
I was much more relaxed after my walk and deeply intrigued by how human behaviour has changed over the past few months. When was the last time you had gone for a walk? I recommend you take a moment to explore your city — you will definitely see and learn new things (just make sure you aren’t looking down at your phone the whole time).
Below is the collection of images I took on my walk. I hope you enjoy it.
