NOX || Highly-Anticipated Contemporary Italian Restaurant Opens in Coal Harbour
Italian flair meets West Coast.
Located in the newly opened And-Co community, NOX is the passion project of Alejandro Diaz and Chef Sam Fabbro, the phenomenal team who have helmed New Westmister’’s award-winning el Santo. This new Italian-inspired eatery is situated in a down-to-earth space, letting everyone know they are welcome to pull up a chair. It’s a place designed as much for special occasions as for spontaneous pop-ins. Diaz’s vision for NOX is one of exquisite simplicity and minimalism, free of pretense and stuffiness, and is intended to reflect the culinary craftsmanship at play, where the enjoyment of the meal takes centre stage - where Chef Fabbro’s dishes will serve as the primary centrepiece.
The concept behind NOX is inspired by the rich traditions of Italian cuisine and bright flavour profiles found on the West Coast culinary scene. Through NOX, Fabbro will offer guests a unique opportunity to sample a taste of Italian heritage and culture, as well as West Coast cuisine.
Menu options for lunch and dinner feature an extensive selection of delectables. Featuring classic Italian starter dishes and appetizers, NOX offers a medley of salads and Cicchetti. Cicchetti is a deliciously crisp, grilled ciabatta that serves as the base for this appetizer, a small tasty snack with vegetarian and gluten-free options.
The pasta menu offers both classic and creative Italian dishes, such as the Braised Pork and Pear Gnocchi, made from red wine braised pork shoulder, preserved pear, house-made gnocchi, basil and parmesan cheese. Blissfully al dente, the gnocchi ooze sauce with each parm-speckled bite. Vegetarian pasta options include Braised Leek Ravioli, Butternut Squash Ragu Tagliatelle, and Spring Carbonara Cavatelli.
For Secondi, guests will have to make a tough decision between Bark Tea Poached Rabbit and Wild Boar. The Wild Boar, aged in bull kelp, brings a rich flavour that uniquely complements the perfectly grilled octopus - tender, succulent, with a crispy outside, fried egg and salsa negra. Other Secondi options include Grilled Albacore Tuna, Red Endive Risotto, Grilled Ribeye and Fraser Valley Duck Breast - gluten-free options are available upon request.
