BURROW SOFA || A Comfortable Haven to Burrow with a Great Read
Do you have a favourite spot within the home?
For some people, it’s their private office, the bathtub, or the kitchen; it’s usually where you feel most comfortable and cozy. I recently added one such spot in my own home with a new Burrow sofa.
I got the three-seater Range Sofa, which comes with fluffy pillows on all sides, even on the armrests, because I tend to read stretched out on my sofa with my head propped up on the armrest, so that was an important point for me when selecting my new sofa. I picked a sofa from the Range Seating Collection because of the flexible design; you could switch an end seat to another corner to create an L-shaped arrangement.
Another point to consider is the shipping. I live in an apartment building, so moving large boxes in and out could be a pain. The good thing is I asked my concierge to send the delivery guy upstairs with my boxes, so at least it was placed just outside my door. Even then, I wouldn’t recommend trying to move the boxes yourself. I was lucky to bump into a neighbour as they were passing by, and I asked him to help me push the boxes into my apartment.
Each of the boxes fits one of the seats of the sofa. For the Range sofa, this meant it came in three large boxes with one additional smaller box with the assembly tools and components. I’ll have to admit that I was a bit intimidated to attempt the assembly myself, and I recruited a helping hand to put together the sofa over the weekend.
Now, was it easy or tough to assemble? Some things were easy, and some required a bit more work. For example, each sofa seat position is clearly labelled on the outside of the box, so you know where each piece goes before you open it. Once you open it, a black cloth bag encloses all the contents, which I like because it keeps everything clean and orderly. The cushions for each seat also come with a marker tag that tells you which side faces up. When you open the zipper area to place the cushion within the arm and backrests, a matching tag will tell you how to align the cushions.
Now, for the components that required a bit more time. For the ‘end seats’, which basically means the sides of the sofa with the armrests, we weren’t sure which was the correct side to place the armrest on, and the instruction booklet seemed to have a different name for the seating section, so that took us a bit of time to figure out. If there were similar marker tags on the panels to help us align them, it would have sped up the process by thirty minutes.
Once you’ve assembled the individual seats, the final step is to put them together. You’ll need two people for this because you have to hold the two seats together while the other person puts in the adjoining screws. The tools are simple enough to use, the tricky part is ensuring the holes in each adjoining piece line up.
I have to say having to put in the work to assemble the sofa made it extra rewarding to sink my head into the armrest pillow tucked under my reading blanket with a book and a glass of Mionetto Prosecco that evening.
