PLAY || The Animal Mug Collection by Marc Venot

“Drink your milk!”

This and other common parental phrases are often heard in households with young children. Sometimes it takes the fun out of eating, but the Animal Mug collection designed by Marc Venot will bring some of that fun back into breakfast, lunch, and dinner for kids.

The Animal Mug, for kids, is a bright, clear and modern range of the five animals: Hippo, Puma, Elephant, Monkey, and Zebra. The porcelain mugs showcasing the five vibrant animals were first introduced at the MAISON & OBJET exhibition in Paris on September 6th, and the style of the drawings is consistent with the design of the Elephant Chair, previously designed by Marc Venot for EO: it uses a minimum of signs to create a whole image of the animal’s face. You may have seen the Elephant Chair design hidden in one of our previous Design features of the White and the Bear children’s concept space in Dubai.

We adore the thoughtful details such as the design on the bottom of the mug, which shows the cute paws of each animal in the same colour. I can picture how children will interact with the mug, incorporating them as their ‘play friends’ in their creative tea time setups, or raising their mug to show their parents the small paw at the bottom and asking their parents how to spell the word at the bottom and how to pronounce the word (having gone through the same experience with my 5-year old niece, I speak from experience).

Wouldn’t you want to pick up one of these colorful mugs for a niece, nephew, or your own young ones for the holidays? They would love you for it.
