BLOOMING BEAUTY || Exploring the Enchanting Chilliwack Tulip Festival

I was in awe as I stood amidst a sea of vibrant colours, surrounded by rows upon rows of blooming tulips.

My decision to visit the Chilliwack Tulip Festival came spontaneously. Mother’s Day was right around the corner, and I thought it was the perfect time to have the family visit a Tulip farm for the occasion. So, armed with my iPhone camera and a sense of curiosity, I embarked on a journey to discover the hidden gem nestled in the heart of Chilliwack, British Columbia.

As I entered the festival grounds, a wave of tranquillity washed over me. The air was filled with the sweet fragrance of tulips, mingling with the gentle whispers of the wind. The sight that greeted me was like stepping into a dreamland. Endless rows of tulips in every imaginable hue stretched as far as the eye could see, creating a breathtaking tapestry of colours.

The field of swaying tulips in the wind brought me peace and tranquillity, a welcomed diversion from the hustle and bustle of city life.

As I wandered through the fields, I couldn't help but feel a sense of serenity. The festival provided a respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, allowing me to reconnect with nature and find solace in its beauty. The peaceful atmosphere was further enhanced by the surrounding mountains, creating a picturesque backdrop that added to the overall allure.

The festival offers more than just a visual feast. It also provides a range of activities and attractions to enhance the visitor experience. From food trucks serving delectable comfort foods such as hotdogs and fries to photobooth stands for families, there was an undeniable sense of festivity in the air. The food trucks were right next to the entrance to the tulip field, so it was perfect for those needing a quick snack in the middle of their adventure through the fields. Families and friends gathered, laughter filled the space, and a sense of camaraderie permeated the atmosphere.

Surprisingly, there was no traffic getting into the festival, and the fields were not crowded at all. But if you’re looking to snap some Instagrammable pictures, mid-afternoon would not be a good time to visit as there would be other tulip fans in the background of your photos. For such a beautiful festival like this, it’s always good to plan the trip in advance. Be sure to wear the right shoes - those that you wouldn’t be scared to get dirty in the mud! Another perk of planning in advance is that the entrance ticket is only $13 for adults and $7 for children, saving $3-$5 more than if you were to buy the ticket on the day of.

For those seeking a moment of relaxation, there were many lounging with their car trunks open, taking in the fresh smell of nature and relaxing in the sunlight. I found myself basking in the warmth of the sun, with the car trunk open, indulging in a delicious picnic spread, and savouring the sights and sounds around me. It was a blissful escape, an invitation to simply be present and appreciate the beauty that surrounded me.

These beautiful, bright yellow tulips in full bloom caught my attention.
