TRAVEL SERIES || Peak of Taste Culinary Month in Italian Alps to Feature Top Culinary Talents

Discover the inaugural culinary month in the Italian Alps — Peak of Taste.


This March, Courmayeur Mont Blanc is hosting the first edition of its culinary month, Peak of Taste.

Situated in the Italian Alps, the world-leading gastronomic destination and resort is inviting guests to meet and eat at altitude with some of the most prolific chefs in the region, as well as a selection of world-class Michelin star chefs.

More than 10 events will take place over the month of March, which includes the 7th Mountain Gourmet Ski Experience taking place from 17th to 20th March. Created by Momentum Ski’s Amin Momen and Heston Blumenthal, this foodie event has a renowned and well-deserved reputation for attracting outstanding chefs to the ski resort of Courmayeur. 2022 will be no exception and will celebrate the return of the highly anticipated ski season in style - playing host to three Michelin star chefs: Tom Kerridge, Paul Ainsworth and renowned local-chef Paolo Griffa in collaboration with Grand Hotel Royal & Golf.

Taste of The Stars

Sunday 5th March, 8PM

Two leading chefs will come together at altitude to present what is sure to be an unforgettable culinary experience. Taking place at Super G restaurant, guests can sample exquisite dishes from chef Andrea Berton and chef Antonio Romano, accompanied by music tracks that emphasize tastes and flavours.

Mountain Gourmet Ski Experience

Thursday, March 17th - 20th

Momentum Ski has once again chosen Courmayeur to host this renowned Mountain Gourmet Ski Experience due to its well-known foodie scene, welcoming hospitality and beautiful alpine scenery. The dinners will take place around and, on the slopes, as well as at the five-star Grand Hotel Royal & Golf, situated in the heart of Courmayeur, a hotel featuring luxury suites, a spa and a Michelin-Star restaurant, Petit Royal, run by Head Chef Paolo Griffa. Paolo will be joined by Tom Kerridge, who holds 3 Michelin stars, and the Michelin starred Paul Ainsworth, welcomed at Gourmet Ski for the first time, to dream up more Michelin starred mountain feasts.

Peak of Taste will feature some of the world’s top culinary talents.

After a day of sport, from dog sledding and skiing, or just simply relaxation in the midst of the nature of the mountains, guests can enjoy dining on gourmet dinners at high altitude, where the chefs will showcase their talent across three meals: Thursday 17th March at Rifugio Monte Bianco hut; Friday 18th March at La Chaumière; and then the grand finale on Saturday 19th March at Grand Hotel Royal e Golf, for the eight-handed dinner with Tom Kerridge, Paul Ainsworth, Andrea Berton and Paolo Griffa.

On the final evening, an aperitif will be held with appetisers prepared by the English chefs at the Chalet de l'Ange - all this to be enjoyed with three special cocktails made by the bartenders of La Bouche, The Grand Dahu and the Bar of the Giant of Le Massif Hotel.

With green star and Michelin three-star chef Norbert Niederkofler (of the St. Hubertus restaurant in San Cassiano) and three Michelin star chef Chicco Cerea (of the restaurant Da Vittorio a Brusaporto) joining forces with one Michelin star Chef Matteo Baronetto (hailing from Ristorante del Cambio, Turin), this eight Michelin starred curated dining experience is sure to be an unforgettable evening. Starting at the highest peak to have an aperitif in Europe - at Punta Helbronner Station in Skyway - guests will then descend 2,173 metres to the Pavillon for "Il Cielo e le stelle", the ultimate dinner in the mountains.

With proceeds of the dinner donated to charity, never has there been a better opportunity to sample authentic mountain cooking in the heart of Courmayeur.

Other Peak of Taste highlights include cocktail and aperitif pairing events and guests will have the opportunity to try "LM38", a new restaurant inside the hotel Le Massif Courmayeur lked by Michelin starred chef Alfredo Russo. The menu offers the best of mountain cuisine, of Valle d'Aosta and Courmayeur, with a focus on fresh local ingredients.
