WELLNESS || 3 Morning Yoga Videos to Gently Start Your Day

Not everyone wants to start their day upside down.

When you are just waking up and looking for a gentle way to invigorate your body, fast flow or power yoga classes may be a bit too much. I experience this first hand and managed to find a few classes that provide a more pleasant way to begin my morning. With yoga studios now closed, and other in-person fitness classes put on pause, we’ve had to find other ways to stay active in our homes. Home fitness equipment like Peleton, Mirror, and more have soared in popularity, but you need a well-rounded fitness routine, and stretching exercises like yoga are great when paired with more cardio heavy exercises.

Here are the 3 yoga videos that are my go-to every weekend morning to coax myself out of bed and start my day on the right foot. If power yoga is more your thing, you will find the sessions below a bit too slow!

MORNING FRESH

This is my go-to yoga video to kickstart my weekend, as I usually feel a bit more sluggish after a long work week. What I love about the video is that the yoga instructor is relaxed, and when she’s relaxed and you are following along, it puts you in a more playful, light-hearted mood as well, which is at least what I need when I’m trying to ease into the weekend.

DEEP STRETCH

I hadn’t been to yoga for 3 months prior to getting back onto my mat again, and my muscles were especially tight, so a session of deep stretching felt phenomenal afterward. Make sure to drink plenty of water before and after your session. Even though you may not feel like you moved at a fast pace, your body is still going through a cleanse of toxins after a deep stretching session, so fluids will help to flush out the built-up toxins.

Total Body Yoga is a deep stretch practice for the legs, back, and hips. This session invites you on the mat to go deeper. This 45 min yoga practice is great...

EVERYDAY VINYASA FLOW YOGA

Now, if you have practiced the two videos above and feel that you have sufficiently loosened your muscles to start doing something that flows a bit faster, this everyday vinyasa flow yoga class with Lululemon is a great option to take your yoga workout up a notch. It has a bit of everything — twists for cleansing, stretches to relieve tight muscles, and a bit of core work to burn more calories. This session still moves at a relatively slower pace, so is suitable for those who are trying to get back into their yoga routine or those who are simply looking for a way to calm their mind.

As mentioned, I am amongst the group that is trying to get back into their workout routine, and found that these three yoga videos have been the most helpful to me as I am slowly getting back into the groove. We have to be kind to our bodies and not try to push beyond our physical limits. Rebuilding our fitness level is a work in progress, similar to how we had to first learn how to crawl before we can walk then run.

Whether you are looking to start or restart your workout routine, or are simply looking for a venue to destress, I hope that these three picks from my home yoga videos can set you in the right direction.
