M BAKERY || This Pink Dream Cafe in Aveiro Presents a Culinary and Visual Feast

Pretty in pink.

This is how any guest who visits M Bakery in Aveiro would refer to it. Adorn in florals in varying shades of pink with a pink bicycle propped neatly at the entrance to match, the bakery is one of the most photo-worthy spots in the city. Tables spill out onto the patio as guests enjoy all sorts of wondrous pink treats: pink lattes, donuts, cake and more.

The interiors are awash in a pale blush pink, accented by capsule-shaped gold shelving with florals of the same colour spilling out and down towards the marble top tables. Plush velvet seating, in pink, invites guests to sit back and relax.

When a restaurant is known for its beautiful aesthetics, sometimes we are skeptical of the quality of the food. Are people there just to enjoy the ambiance and place less emphasis on the food? The only way to discover the answer to this question was to try the food ourselves.

All pink everything at M Bakery.

We were delighted to discover that the menu offered a wide range of items, from brunch to sandwiches, salad bowls and more. We ordered at least one item from each category, plus photo-worthy pink drinks to sip and savour as we waited for our food.

In addition to a pink latte topped with a generous serving of whipped cream and mini pink and white marshmallows, we also had a strawberry milkshake finished with a cloud of pink cotton candy the size of my 8-year-old niece’s head. Not only were the drinks delicious we also had a lot of fun snapping photos of ourselves with the unique backdrop.

Of course we had to try the Pink Latte with a generous serving of whipped cream and pink mini marshmallows.

Our lunch arrived as I finished the last sip of my pink latte. We enjoyed a perfectly poached eggs benedict, a sweet and savoury breakfast croissant with fluffy scrambled eggs on an open-faced croissant, a healthy avocado bagel with curried onions and greens, and a hearty pasta salad bowl with grilled chicken, mushrooms and diced apples.

I was pleasantly surprised by the texture of the bagel and croissants, where the bagel is soft and chewy, soaking up the juices of the curried onions, and the croissants are dense and sweet. While I usually prefer my croissants buttery and flakey, I actually appreciated the denser and sweet flavour of this rendition at M Bakery.

After sampling all the dishes on the table, I’m happy to share that this pink dream cafe presents a culinary and visual feast. Although compared to other restaurants and cafes in Aveiro, M bakery may be a bit pricier, you’ve got to factor in how this is one of the few eateries in the city with such an aesthetic design.

As we wrapped up our meal and sunk deeper into our chairs, we were already contemplating which of the pastries to purchase and bring with us for the road. We settled on a selection of donuts including the marshmallow donut topped with pink icing and star-shaped sprinkles.

If you want to dine in a fairytale-like environment and bask in everything pink, you should add M Bakery to your bucket list of cafes to visit in Aveiro.
