TOJO'S || Enjoy Traditional Japanese 'Jubako' this Holiday Season

For this Holiday season, Tojo’s Restaurant has created two exceptional offerings to be enjoyed in the home.

These special tiered boxes called Jubako are inspired by Osechi Ryori, traditional foods eaten in Japan on New Year’s Day. Enjoy on their own or complement them with fresh sashimi and delicacies from Tojo’s takeaway menu.

Packaged beautifully in a Japanese furoshiki cloth, these boxes also make for a lovely and heartwarming gift for the holidays.

Using traditional techniques and taking days to prepare, the items in these Jubako boxes are smoked, stewed, pickled, and candied. Because everything is cooked, these dishes can be enjoyed in one sitting or over 2 to 3 days.

Tojo’s Treasure Box

Each selection in the Jubako symbolizes a wish for hope and prosperity in the new year. For example, prawns that resemble the elderly with curved backs and antennae beards represent long life and the candied smelt represents bounty.

The Jubako sets come in two sizes: the Holiday box is $135, and the Tojo’s Treasure Box is $300. These holiday sets are only available in limited quantities between Dec 23 - Jan 2. Orders require a 2-days notice and can be placed via their website.

If you are looking to send a Jubako to someone special on your holiday list, Tojo’s can include a personalized message for these Jubako boxes.

Even after decades of serving up Japanese cuisines that seamlessly blends modernity and tradition, Chef Tojo continues to explore and set new boundaries by presenting new culinary experiences to the community. We hope you are able to enjoy one of these special Jubako in the comfort and safety of your home this holiday season.
