HAWAIIAN JAPANESE-STYLE BRUNCH || Kaimana Farm Cafe

Japanese renditions of other cuisines always inherit the healthy tones of their culture.

This is what we discovered at Kaimana Farm Cafe, a hidden gem eatery with roughly 20 seats. We were travelling with a large party of 12, so we were fortunate enough to be seated right away.

Kaimana Farm Cafe sources their ingredients according to the Farm-to-Table concept, with their vegetables coming from local areas, including Hawaiikai, Kailua, Kahuku, Wahiawa, and the North Shore. Looking around the shop you will find branded retail items such as t-shirts and colourful tote bags. Handmade earrings hang neatly on a string hung from wooden shelves. The cozy, relaxed decor made us feel right at home.

The shop also has a small section of retail goods, like the dainty earrings above and Kaimana branded cute tote bags and t-shirts.

We all had our eyes set on the outrageously fluffy Souffle Egg Omelette, so we ordered two with cheese and two without cheese. With each omelette order, you can pick a healthy side dish of a variety of pickled greens or salads. We got a side of hijiki with sliced carrots, and edamame. We sipped on our Matcha Latte made from Kyoto green tea as we waited. Finally, the thick, fluffy omelettes arrived and easily cut sliced through to reveal creamy, butter-tossed onions and greens inside. The omelette is served with tomato risotto, which although creamy, was light and enjoyable.

Another item we would recommend is the hamburg steak with brown rice, paired with a bowl of fresh orange and pineapple slices. We also chose a delicious organic kale salad as the side dish for this lunch set, creating a well-balanced brunch meal. The homemade style Japanese hamburg steak was seared on both sides, yet retained its savoury juices inside its crumbly, meaty bites.

For those of us with a sweet tooth, we went for the Strawberry French Toast. We did not regret it, because the French Toast was made to perfection. The thick-sliced toast had an outer crust that was crisp and crunchy, while the bread was light and fluffy - you can devour the whole dish and still want more.

A few other items also caught our eye, such as the Dijon Chicken lunch plate, healthy Acai bowls, creamy smooth Matcha Lattes (Kyoto matcha), and the moist and crumbly Yuzu Honey Muffins. Needless to say, none of us left hungry.

Owner Junko was extremely kind and attentive to our group, and asked us where we were visiting from. It's always nice to meet the people behind the culinary art. If you are looking for a healthy, tasty Hawaiian/Japanese style brunch, Kaimana Farm Cafe would be a lovely place to visit!
