SULTAN'S TENT || Where Dinner is a Party

True to its name, once you enter the dining room of the Sultan’s Tent, you will feel as though you are welcomed guests invited to gather around with food and drink for a celebration.

The room layout is conducive to engaging the crowd, with the performance corridor splitting the center of the room, with guests seated in plush divans eagerly awaiting the nightly performance. Guests usually visit for birthday celebrations or special occasions, since one can enjoy tasty Moroccan food and a lively performance to kickstart their evening. There is a current promotion where you can enjoy a Moroccan feast for 2 for just $89!

What is the celebration? There is a belly dancing performance each night, engaging the crowds to join in on the performance, and attracting numerous phones to film the performance to share on social media.

You will want to arrive and settle in with drinks and appetizers before the performance. The way the tables are arranged encourage guests to peer over at the next table and engage in conversation, as they comment on each other’s dishes, inquiring as to the taste and even offering tasters to their newfound friends.

We started our meal with the Signature Maftoul, which is known as the ‘Cuban Cigar’, deep-fried rolls stuffed with minced meat. The fresh crab cakes are another great choice, moist and tender with a crunchy exterior. For those who love goat cheese, you must try the goat cheese toast, where the goat cheese is topped with a layer of sugar which is flame-seared; this is where it gets its name - Chèvre Brûlée.

Signature Maftoul - also known as ‘Cuban Cigar’.

Chèvre Brûlée - Soft Goat Cheese, Port De Cassis Reduction, Red Onion Jam.

Moroccan Crab Cake - 3oz. Real Crab Meat, Moroccan Spices, Chermoula Emulsion, Harissa Aioli.

For our main we chose the Lamb Shank, which is a crowd favourite and is fall-off-the-bone tender. As we enjoyed our mains, the music came on and everyone started clapping, the servers also help to crest the cheerful, celebratory vibe, and guests quickly got into the mood, dancing along. A family had been in the audience that evening and even grandma got up to show off her moves.

Braised Lamb Shank - Braised Lamb, Lamb Reduction Sauce, Cashews, Mixed Vegetables, Saffron Rice.

Refreshing Mojito.

Following the lively performance and hearty entree, we capped off our evening with an indulgent crème brûlée.
