ReBIRD™ SERVICE CENTER || A Striking Pop-Up Merging Sustainability and Alpine Adventure

Why settle for a ski lodge when your next alpine retreat could be stitched together from the adventure itself?

In the heart of Jilin’s Songhua Lake ski resort, a vivid pop-up emerges from the winter landscape—Arc’teryx’s ReBIRD™ Service Center, a limited-time experience blending sustainability, craftsmanship, and alpine adventure. Designed in collaboration with STILL YOUNG, the 163-square-meter installation is not merely a retail space but a sanctuary for skiers—a place to rest, repair, and reconnect with nature.

A luminous retreat in the snow—ReBIRD™ Service Center’s colourful form emerges as a beacon in Jilin’s winter landscape.

The project is deeply rooted in Arc’teryx’s ReBIRD™ initiative, a commitment to circularity and responsible design. The tent’s vibrant exterior and the towering six-meter jacket sculpture—both crafted from repurposed textiles—reflect the brand’s ethos of upcycling and innovation. Against the pristine white snow, the colourful geometric patterns create a striking contrast, transforming discarded materials into a beacon of sustainability.

By day, the geometric tent is a vibrant contrast against the alpine setting; by night, it glows warmly, inviting skiers to gather.

Stepping inside, visitors encounter an undulating bar installation inspired by the frozen topography of Songhua Lake. Crafted from layered glass and wood, the sculptural centrepiece mirrors the crystalline beauty of ice, reinforcing the project’s dialogue with its natural surroundings. The space is designed to be as immersive as it is functional. It features a VIP lounge that channels the warmth of an alpine cabin, with plush seating, soft textiles, and a central firepit fostering respite and camaraderie.

Beyond offering a moment of reprieve, the ReBIRD™ service station provides gear repair, professional cleaning, and longevity care for Arc’teryx products, ensuring that each piece of outdoor apparel can be revitalized rather than replaced. Every element within the pop-up is carefully considered, inviting visitors to engage deeply with Arc’teryx’s sustainability mission while preparing for their next high-altitude adventure.

A sculptural bar installation, inspired by frozen landscapes, anchors the space with its crystalline layers of glass and wood.

Beyond the thrill of skiing, ReBIRD™ Service Center embodies a shift in how we interact with gear, nature, and community. Rather than a traditional retail-driven pop-up, the space prioritizes experience over transaction, fostering an atmosphere of shared adventure and ecological responsibility.

For skiers, the journey begins with soaring over snow-covered ridges, but it doesn’t end when the descent is complete. In this uniquely designed refuge, they find warmth, conversation, and a renewed connection to the landscapes that fuel their pursuits.

A welcoming retreat—plush seating, warm wood textures, and a central firepit create an atmosphere of alpine comfort.

As Arc’teryx continues its legacy of innovation, this space serves as a model for future experiential retail—where sustainability isn’t an afterthought but the foundation of design. The ReBIRD™ Service Center is a place of transition, transformation, and timeless adventure.
