JAVA ROOFTOP BAR IN LISBON || Surround Yourself With Postcard-worthy Views Wherever You Are Seated
When we step into a restaurant, we always want to pick a table by the window, simply because a breathtaking panoramic view can certainly elevate our gastronomic experience.
Yet here in Java, a rooftop bar in Lisbon designed by Studio PIM in collaboration with EPL Streetfood, you don't have to worry about not getting the favourable spot to take in the view.
Opened with a soft launch in May in Lisbon, the rooftop bar and restaurant Java offers a regularly changing seasonal menu and casual street food from the outdoor hatch. It is the only rooftop in the Cais do Sodré district with picturesque views down to the iconic Ribeiro Market across the Tagus River, making it the perfect spot to unwind with a sip of a cocktail as the sun sets.
Indeed, the restaurant tables are nestled between the double-sided bar and the open kitchen instead of pointing outwards, assuring the views are maximized to every diner stationed either on the terrace or close to a window.
A spectacular view is a crucial component to creating an elevated ambience, yet the restaurant owner refused to be led by it.
While the indoor plants offer a lively atmosphere to the interior, a retro, earthy feel is conjured by every refinement, from the blue velvet horseshoe booths and mid-century Holophane globe lights to the smooth wooden elements and lines of cactuses, while the custom-made Pierre Frey fabric across the long banquette seats unites the identity with its warm bronze tones.
To enhance the sense of texture with a contemporary touch, the front of the bar and the lower half of the external walls are clad in long terracotta tiles as if having a conversation with the surrounding rooftops dotting up the hills.
Every detail is carefully crafted. If you pay close attention, you can notice subtle complementary elements in every corner.
