HOTEL SERIES || The Kinney at Venice Beach Los Angeles

My friend and I had a tough time debating which hotel to book for our trip to Los Angeles. We settled on The Kinney at Venice Beach, given the funky look of its newly renovated hotel rooms. We didn't know what to expect and hoped the online photos were representative of the experience. We aren't disappointed.

As my Uber came to a stop outside the hotel entrance, the cool wall mural adorning the one side of the wall caught my eye. Ines at reception was supremely helpful and welcoming and I instantly felt relieved that we had made the right choice.

I took the elevator up to the third floor where our room was and as soon as I stepped out I neglected my luggage and got busy with my camera. There were so many nooks and photo-worthy moments I needed to capture!

Paintings lined the hallway corridors and an open "Bring Your Own Wine" Bar was located in the central courtyard with an open fireplace. Large hammocks were tucked cozily into a nook between the buildings, and the colourful geometric pattern of the hallway carpet tied all the funky elements together.

As I opened the door to my room, I was excited by the funky wallpaper and decor pieces. Before I even took my coat off I was again snapping photos on my camera to capture the room when everything looked 'fresh'.

From the bedside table with a cartoon magazine holder, to the retro telephone contrasted against the modern lamp, everything seemed out of place yet so complementary. In the dining room breakfast is served everyday and you can grab smoothies from their equally hip, cool dining room on the first floor.

If reading a book in the oversized hammocks or a dip in the outdoor pool isn't your thing, check out the first floor lounge area, where you will find interesting books you can settle in to read.

The Kinney is a place that provides much more than accommodation, it has designed a vacation lifestyle for its guests, and given them a visual feast in each of the rooms. If you are planning a trip to visit Los Angeles, The Kinney is for the urbanite with an appreciation for interior design and art.
