SIBYLLE || A Home Collection Inspired by the Mythical Sibyls of Greco-Roman Antiquity

It wasn’t until I spent much more time working at home in the past few years that I realized the importance of home furnishings.

This new home collection, titled ‘Sibylle’ by Studiopepe, is designed for Once Milano. It is inspired by the concept of sensibility — that is the enigmatic and exquisite aesthetic perception of reality.

The collection consists of bedding, embroidered pillows, lamps with asymmetrical lampshades, wall hangings and flowing kimonos that envelop and protect the wearer, opening them to the world and its infinite possibilities.

The mythical Sibyls of Greco-Roman antiquity, after whom the collection is named, were considered endowed with sentience. As such, they were believed to have the ability to probe the recesses of the material world through their senses. They were also said to be able to perceive the subtle world, which remains hidden from most, a world that can only be contemplated through the eyes of the heart.

Random geometric shapes are linked together by the graphic sign of embroidery and chase each other on the material surface.

In the 'Sibylle' collection form pursues colour and colour pursues form in a perpetual sensory game — the bidimensional game of the wall hangings and of the kimonos but also the tridimensional game of the asymmetrical lampshades, which diffuse an enveloping and even mysterious light.

Settling into a reading chair with the wall hangings as the backdrop and the asymmetric table lamp on a side table is the perfect setting for the living room. A designed escape within the home where one could venture off into varied worlds through the pages of a good read.
